What the contractor report says
Great Northern Insulation (GNI), in an article dated October 27, 2026, reports that Enbridge Gas informed participating contractors that the program deadline had been extended to March 31, 2027. Its discussion focuses on standalone attic insulation and the assessment-based multi-upgrade path.
This is a secondary report from a contractor, not an administrator notice we have independently verified. We have not reviewed the underlying contractor communication. Its scope, conditions and application to individual rebate streams still need confirmation.
What the public official documents currently say
The official attic-insulation participant terms linked from the program website still state that qualifying work must be completed by November 30, 2026 (section 7(d), page 4; version December 2025).
The assessment-stream terms still state that the post-retrofit assessment must be completed within 180 days of the pre-retrofit assessment or by December 31, 2026, whichever is earlier. They also require it to be scheduled and entered in the program tracking system by November 30, 2026 (section 7(e), page 4; version November 2025).
These are the dates in the public PDFs we checked on November 2, 2026. The difference between those documents and GNI’s report does not establish that the report is wrong, or that the PDFs have already been superseded. It is a discrepancy that needs an official explanation.
Does this confirm a heat-pump rebate extension?
No. The report alone does not establish a new heat-pump deadline or a blanket extension of every HRSP offer. Heat pumps have their own program-stream requirements, and we have not independently verified a March 31, 2027 extension for that stream.
The official heat-pump page continues to require pre-installation approval before installation. Do not treat an insulation-focused report as permission to skip approval or change the schedule attached to your own application.
We have asked HRSP for clarification
Taylor has contacted HRSP directly to request an update. As of November 2, 2026, confirmation is still pending. We are not presenting that inquiry as an approval, a response from the administrator or evidence that the reported date applies to all participants.
We will update this article when clarification is available, including which rebate streams are covered and any revised completion or submission requirements.
What homeowners should do now
Until the position is clarified, do not postpone planned work or an assessment solely because of the reported extension. Ask your participating contractor or energy advisor to verify the requirements that apply to your specific project with the program administrator, and retain written confirmation.
This article reports an unresolved deadline claim. It does not change the rebate amounts, eligibility rules or timing assumptions used by our rebate finder and calculators.
