Who should check this rebate?
Ontario homeowners considering a heat pump should start here. The amount and eligibility depend partly on how the home is heated today.
Homes heated with Enbridge natural gas use different rebate amounts from homes heated with electricity, oil, propane or wood.
How much is available?
For eligible purchased air-source heat pumps.
For eligible purchased air-source heat pumps.
For eligible air-source heat-pump rentals.
The actual rebate depends on the approved system’s heating capacity and other program rules. Ground-source heat pumps use a separate schedule. Your participating contractor can confirm the amount for the system on your quote.
Get approval before installation.
Use a participating contractor and complete the required pre-installation approval before the heat pump is installed.
Keep the approval with your quote and invoice until the rebate is complete.
Make sure the quoted system qualifies.
Not every heat pump qualifies. Before you sign, ask the contractor to confirm that the exact system on the quote meets the current program requirements and to show the rebate amount in writing.
You do not need to decode equipment combinations yourself. The contractor should be able to explain what is being installed and why it qualifies.
A few situations need an extra check.
Already have a heat pump, recently moved into a new home, plan to rent the equipment, or have already signed or started work? Check with the program or participating contractor before relying on the rebate.
Heat-pump water heaters are different.
A heat-pump water heater uses a separate Home Renovation Savings route with different requirements.
